Significant changes have been made to Campbelltown Council’s Hard Waste Collection Service. A new 'at call' collection service for hard waste has replaced the previous collection that occurred every two years.  

Residents are entitled to one free hard waste collection each financial year of up to 2 cubic metres (2m long x 1m wide x 1m high), the equivalent of a standard trailer load. Bookings can be made 3-4 weeks prior to collection all year round.  It is essential that a booking is made, please do not place items kerbside without having a booking.

How do I organise a booking?

All residential households are entitled to one free at call and one free mattress collection per financial year (1 July to 30 June).  To arrange your hard waste booking, call East Waste on 8347 5170, visit online at www.eastwaste.com.au and follow the link or email east@eastwaste.com.

When is my collection day?

Your collection day will be booked on an available Thursday or Friday.

What happens after I make a booking for an at call hard waste collection?

East Waste will send you a letter confirming the actual week of the collection for hard waste (generally will be collected within 3-4 weeks after the booking). They will also provide you with an information flyer and sticker to confirm that you have booked this service. You need to place the sticker on your hard waste pile to confirm that you have made the booking through East Waste.  Items must be placed no earlier than 24 hours prior to the booking date.

What items can and can’t be disposed of through Council’s at call collection service?

You can dispose of a range of items, however, due to some environmental restrictions (including an Environmental Protection Authority ban) and also to promote greater recycling, there are several items that cannot be accepted as part of this service and these are listed below. East Waste also provides the items list as part of the information flyer that you will received when you organise your booking.

  • Floor coverings (up to 1.5 metre lengths)
  • Furniture
  • Hot water services
  • Lawn mowers
  • Mattresses
  • Rainwater tanks
  • Refrigerators and freezers
    (for safety reasons ‑ please remove doors)
  • Sheets of iron and guttering
    (up to 1.5 metre lengths)
  • Small items of scrap metal
  • Timber off cuts (up to 1.5 metre lengths)
  • White goods
  • Ammunition, explosives or flares
  • Asbestos
  • Batteries
  • Bricks, rocks, dirt, pavers, concrete and building materials
  • Business or industrial waste
  • Chemicals
  • Electronic waste (TV's, Computers, printers,
    phones, DVD and VCR players, stereos, iPods etc)
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Gas bottles
  • Items too heavy for two people to lift
  • Liquids
  • Motor oil
  • Motor vehicle parts ‑ e.g. gear boxes,
    engine blocks and panels
  • Motor vehicle tyres
  • Paints
  • Panels of sheet glass, mirrors and windows
  • Wooden pallets
Can I use the at call collection service if I own a business?

Yes. All rate payers are eligible to use the service but the same restrictions apply. One collection per financial year of no more than two cubic metres of material.

What happens with my collected hard waste?

Your eligible hard waste will be collected by a compactor truck and delivered to a waste recovery facility.  Recyclable materials will be extracted (such as wood, metal etc) and it is Council’s aim to have at least 45% hard waste material collected recycled.
