Zero Carbon Challenge Winner

Lochiel Park is now home to the winner of the Zero Carbon Challenge. The Zero Carbon Challenge took place through an initiative of the South Australian Government and Integrated Design Commission SA.  A competition that saw a number of consortiums formed to develop concepts to build a zero carbon house for the price of a conventional 3 bedroom home.

This award winning house sets a new standard for sustainable design and construction.

Design features include highly insulated timber frame wall and roof systems, fabricated off site to minimise waste, a bio fuel heating system, Climate Wizard indirect cooling system (the first of its kind in Australia), a 3kW solar PV array, and a polished concrete floor made from recycled materials.

At a cost of around $335,000 (excluding GST), a 7.5 star rating, net zero operational energy and a 16- week construction time, the home that TS4 Living has designed ticks a lot of boxes. The winning team was also awarded the people's choice award.
