Children and Families

"We should value children as they might have a great idea!" local resident, aged 7.

Council couldn't agree more! Council is committed to work with children to understand how they see their community and how they can help shape what it’s like - this is at the heart of Child Friendly Campbelltown. That's why we've worked together with children from our Community to develop our Children's Policy, aimed at addressing the needs of Children aged 0-12 years.

Council is putting together a Children’s Plan which is like a promise from the council to help children and families. It has 4 themes with special focuses for each one. The themes are about connection, play, neighbourhood, and kids' voices. A chance to have your say on the Draft Children’s Plan will be available soon. Visit connect2.campbelltown.sa.gov.au and register for the opportunity to share your feedback when the consultation becomes available.

We figured out these themes by talking to children, asking questions, watching, and doing surveys and workshops. We also looked at research, data, and what the government says about children to develop our Children’s Plan Background Paper 2024.
