Volunteering

Campbelltown City Council highly values and recognises the contribution made by volunteers who give their time, energy, talent, skills and knowledge for the benefit of others.

At Campbelltown, volunteers improve the quality of life for local people and strengthen links between residents and Council. We believe that there is a way in which every person can participate in volunteering.

There is a role for everyone to play regardless of your age, ability or experience. We partner with members of the community who have ideas about new ways in which they can volunteer. If you have a passion for a new initiative, we’d love to hear from you.

Types of Volunteering

Formal volunteering involves volunteering in a specific role with regular attendance, on a long-term basis. Volunteers follow procedures, hold a current screening check and attend training. Roles could include driving the community bus, graffiti removal or library shelving.

Short-term or spontaneous volunteering allows you to volunteer your time without a long-term commitment – give an hour or two, or a few weeks. Roles include Neighbourhood BBQ leaflet delivery or supporting community events.

Informal volunteering can be as simple as helping your neighbour to move their bins, walking their dog, or teaming up to clean the local park. Community members come together around a shared interest or need to help the community, in a less structured setting.
